Macy Adam Meyer
“ Macedog” February 4, 1985 – July 2, 2003
Adam’s Ponderosa High School resume included being Senior Class President, a member of the National Honor Society, Honors Graduate, member of the Homecoming Court, and nominee for Prom King. He was also an active and respected member of the Trinity Lutheran Youth Group, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Young Life. Adam excelled in sports including golf, baseball, and wrestling. His wrestling team, which was ranked 13th in the Nation, won the 2003 State Wrestling Championship and Adam took home the 5th place medal. Macy Adam Meyer was born on February 4, 1985 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Suki and Macy Meyer. He was the big brother for Paul and Jill to look up to – the shining apple of his mother’s eye – his father’s namesake – an object of pride for his grandparents. Many of his peers were proud to count him as their friend; however, to a select few, he would be the closest of friends for life. He became “Macedog,” one of God’s truly original creations. From the beginning it was obvious he was going to be one of a kind. He possessed a low, gruff voice as a toddler. He would welcome the world upon waking each day with a low, constant wail, which made people look to his parents for explanation. His Stay-Puff Marshmallow cheeks, wide eyes and curled lips always betrayed a prank or mischief just accomplished or under strong consideration. Physically, he demonstrated remarkable coordination, balance and strength that showed promise in any athletic pursuit he would follow. Mentally tough, he showed single-minded determination to accomplish any task at hand. And yet it would be his endearing personality that left its mark on the hearts of everyone he touched. He was genuine, kind, driven to help others, and always ready to make people laugh at his antics or their own quirks and gaffes. Yet, most of Adam’s impact and accomplishments are immeasurable. How can you measure smiles and laughter? On what scale can you score his need to lend a helping hand at every opportunity? How many lives has he affected in such a profound and positive way? You see it in his mother’s eyes. You hear it in his father’s pride. You feel it in the quiet admiration of his brother and sister. You can sense it in the hearts and minds of his friends and family. You can touch it in his highly customized golf cart. As his cute boyish puffed cheeks gave way to a handsome chiseled young adult, it could have been easy to bask in the praise and adoration bestowed by those around him. Yet, he reflected all of this back through a humble shyness or diverted it away through humor. If he would be the center of attention, it would only be to make people laugh. A son, a brother, and a man of faith, Adam more than touched the lives of many people. Upon first meeting Adam, people could tell he knew how to truly live. Never afraid to take a risk, he was always the first to try something new or say what was on his mind. A loving and uplifting character, we will never be able to replace Adam. He will be on our minds and in our hearts forever. John 15:5 * * * * * Written by: Bret Henry Meyer (Adam’s
